Just to the north of Competa lies the rugged terrain of the Sierras Almijara and Tejeda which rise to 2,068m. These hills are designated as a nature reserve and provide a contrast to the more agricultural hills between Cómpeta and the coast. The area is rich in fauna including mountain goats, eagles and buzzards. We will follow tracks into the hills to the isolated hotel at Casa de la Mina to enjoy the amazing scenery of the Sierra Almijara.
